Steam Room Questions

Sizing, certifications, maintenance and everything about steam.

What size steam generator do I need for my steam room?

Sizing is based on the cubic footage of your room (length × width × height). As a general guide: a 6'×8'×7.5' room needs approximately 7.5 kW; a 10'×10'×7.5' room needs approximately 12 kW; commercial spaces above 2,000 cubic feet require 30 kW or more. Tile and stone enclosures also require more capacity than acrylic or fibreglass rooms. Contact us with your exact dimensions and we will size it precisely at no charge.

What is the difference between a residential and a commercial steam generator?

Residential generators (our Steam Ranger™ series) are single-phase units designed for home use in enclosures up to approximately 1,800 cubic feet. Commercial generators (Executive Series ES7.5-ES60) support both single and three-phase power, are engineered for continuous-duty operation, and can handle spaces exceeding 3,000 cubic feet. Commercial units also feature automated self-cleaning and built-in drain-cooling systems designed for the demands of gyms, spas, and hotels.

How long does it take for a steam room to heat up?

A properly sized generator reaches operating temperature in approximately 10–15 minutes. Commercial units with our Steam-on-Demand feature maintain a standby temperature so steam is available almost instantly at the touch of a button. Our 2-in-1 commercial system keeps the room continuously full of steam throughout your operating hours.

Are your steam generators CSA certified?

Yes. Our steam generators are CSA and ETL certified, meeting all applicable Canadian electrical and safety standards. CSA certification is a requirement for commercial installations across Ontario and Canada.

What maintenance does a steam generator require?

Steam generators require periodic flushing to remove mineral sediment from the boiling tank. Our commercial units perform this automatically via a built-in self-cleaning cycle. For residential units, manual flushing every 3–6 months is recommended depending on local water hardness. An annual inspection of heating elements and electrical connections is also advised.

Do you carry parts and replacement components?

Yes. As an authorized dealer we have access to manufacturer parts including heating elements, steam heads, controllers, and plumbing components. Contact us with your model number and we will source what you need.

Cedar Sauna Questions

Traditional Finnish sauna → materials, heaters, and sizing.

What is included in a cedar sauna material kit?

Our cedar sauna kits are built from A+ grade, kiln-dried clear Western Red Cedar and include: tongue-and-groove wall and ceiling boards, a two-tier bench system, a bronzed tempered glass door and frame, foil-reinforced vapour barrier, heater guard, sauna light, and intake and exhaust vents. The heater and control package are selected separately based on your room dimensions.

What size sauna heater do I need?

Wall mount heaters range from 4 kW (for rooms up to 200 cubic feet) to 10.5 kW (up to 525 cubic feet). Floor mount models go from 9 kW to 21 kW for larger commercial saunas up to 1,050 cubic feet. Provide us with your room dimensions and we will recommend the correct model and configuration.

What is the difference between a wall mount and a floor mount heater?

Wall mount heaters are compact units suited for smaller residential saunas. Floor mount heaters are larger, free-standing units for commercial rooms — they hold a greater volume of rocks and produce more steam when water is poured over them, delivering the intense traditional Finnish sauna experience preferred by spas and gyms.

How much does a complete cedar sauna package cost?

A complete package including the cedar material kit and heater typically ranges from approximately $5,000 CAD for a compact 4'×5' room to over $12,000 CAD for a larger commercial installation. Pricing depends on room size, heater model, control package, and any upgrade options. Contact us for a detailed quote.

Infrared Questions

How infrared works and what sets it apart.

How is infrared different from a traditional dry sauna?

A traditional dry sauna heats the air inside to 80–100°C and the hot air warms your body. An infrared sauna uses carbon or ceramic panels that emit radiant heat absorbed directly by the body at lower ambient temperatures of 45–60°C. Many users prefer infrared for its gentler heat, deeper tissue penetration, and lower-humidity environment.

Are infrared saunas safe?

Yes. Infrared panels emit the same type of safe radiant heat as the sun, without UV radiation. Our carbon and ceramic infrared emitters are designed for regular therapeutic use. As with any heat therapy, we recommend consulting your physician if you have cardiovascular conditions or are pregnant.

Accessory Questions

Everything that completes your steam room or sauna.

What accessories are available for cedar and infrared saunas?
